FLORIAN RUBELI
Skipper – Team Resilience
-
With an unconventional background, the skipper of Team Résilience forged his path far from the traditional routes of offshore racing. A field adventurer before becoming a project sailor, he spent over fifteen years as a musher, working in polar environments where endurance, risk management, and critical decision-making were vital.
-
His journey then led him to long expeditions and crossings in extreme and isolated environments: polar regions and Lapland, near the magnetic North Pole, the Amazon, the Himalayas, and desert areas. These self-supported experiences forged a deep connection with extended time, effort, uncertainty, and solitude—central dimensions of solo ocean sailing. -
-
Alongside his maritime commitments, he works as a private hire driver on the French Riviera and is developing a multimedia creation business, integrating capture technologies, drones, and artificial intelligence. This versatility fosters an independent approach to the project, both operationally and in the ability to document, narrate, and share the adventure in a contemporary and controlled manner.
-
His sailing skills have developed gradually, through coastal navigation, intensive training, and thousands of hours of simulation, notably achieving 4th place in the 2016–2017 virtual Vendée Globe, a testament to his commitment, rigor, and strategic analytical abilities. -
-
Today, he is pursuing a realistic and structured sporting career path, with the 2026 Route du Rhum as a key milestone, followed by the 2027 Global Solo Challenge as his central objective: sailing far, for long periods, and solo, consistent with a journey forged by experience in extreme environments and the lessons of endurance.
A methodical progression towards the ocean
Rather than a direct leap towards performance, Florian adopts a gradual strategy:
-
Regular solo sailing
-
Structuring the project in stages
-
Choosing a suitable medium (Class 40)
-
Increase in technical and mental strength
Objective: a strong participation in the Global Solo Challenge 2027.
An entrepreneurial & creative approach
Florian, founder of Fusion Frame Media, is proficient in audiovisual production and digital storytelling tools.
This dual expertise allows for:
-
autonomous content production
-
editorial consistency
-
a structured activation of partners
A long-term ambition
The Global Solo Challenge 2027 represents a structuring step in a progressive trajectory.
In the longer term, the ambition is to bring together the sporting and financial conditions necessary for qualification for the 2032 Vendée Globe.
Each step will be validated rigorously.
This adventure is not just about a sporting performance. It represents a discipline, a method, and a connection between the sea, the media, and partners.
🎙 Creative dimension & content production
Alongside his sporting career, Florian is developing a multimedia and musical production activity, which reinforces the narrative dimension of the Team Resilience project.
This dual skill set — athletic and creative — allows:
autonomous content production
aesthetic and editorial consistency
an original activation capability for partners
This approach reinforces the media continuity of the project, before, during and after the race.
